The Tom Phillips Microscopic Meteorite Gallery of Images

Meteorite: NWA 2086
Classification: CV3
Process: Reflected Light
Wow, What a beautiful meteorite. These images are in reflected light of a highly polished (1/4 micron) thick slice. The magnification is at 345X.

I bought this sample from Mike Farmer. The description is from Mike's site where he has more slices still for sale.

NWA 2086
This meteorite is classified as a carbonaceous chondrite, (CV3). I bought this stone in November 2003 in Morocco. There were many fragments of this meteorite, with a total known weight on only 780 grams. It is a beautiful meteorite, with sharp large multi-colored chondrules, and small CAI's. It is shock level 1 and weathering level 1.
