Not to many people have a sample of this one. Somehow Jeff Hodges managed a high quality thin section. After his loan, it was very hard to send back. One of the most photogenic meteorites I have ever examined. These micrographs were taken in cross polarized transmitted light at a magnification of 400X.

What am I doing with this set of images? I am trying to show how it looks moving across a thin section at 400X and give some idea of what 400X means. I lined up each image just to the right of the last and crossed the thin section in a series of micrographs. The trip took 90 images. Included in this set is the whole thin section and the first 15 micrographs. If you look closely, you can see a little overlap of the previous image in every shot.

Please keep in mind these were not set up for the best image but just taken in series as it came. As a result, some of the images are not that good and would not be normally included in this Gallery.
