I don't know much
about this meteorite. It was found in 1998 in Libya.
The thin section I used was from Ivan Koutyrev.
These images are taken in typical cross polarized
transmitted (pass through) light combined with incident
(reflected) light. This process is TRICKY! Getting the
correct balance is often elusive. It is hard enough to
bring together everything required to get a nice shot in
either method. When you combine the two, one always
wants to over power the other. To much or to little
light and you loose detail and or contrast.
Experimentation is the key. Make your light sources
adjustable. If one is a non adjustable lamp such as a
vapor bulb (mercury, xenon, etc) then find some way to
adjust light input. The last photograph is a home made
aperture I used in taking these micrographs. Not much
to look at, but it worked!
