I was born in Durango, Colorado in 1964 and raised in Aztec, New Mexico. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona in the fall of 1986 to pursue a music career. After many years of spinning my wheels in the music industry I happened to see a program on the Discovery Channel about Meteorite Hunters. I became immediately interested in these amazing extra-terrestrial stones. In fact I was so impressed to learn that it was possible for someone to actually find a meteorite that I vowed to find one for myself. The very next day I went to the local library and began learning more about meteorites and meteorite hunting. Within one week I had contacted Jim Kriegh, a very successful meteorite hunter that lived a short distance from me. Jim unselfishly schooled me in the art of meteorite hunting – where to find them and how to recognize them. He also gave me directions to the gold basin meteorite strewn field which is where – two weeks later – I found my first meteorites. Today I’m a professional meteorite hunter that has found thousands of meteorites in many different strewn field locations as well as “cold finds” in lesser known areas. I enjoy hunting meteorites as often as possible as I love the excitement of being out in the wilderness. The moral of the story is this: If you can’t be a “rock star” maybe you can find rocks that were once stars!
